Additional information

D.T.S. Werke Krauschwitz was a German industrial firm that issued notgeld tokens during the early 1920s, when the collapse of the mark left employers unable to obtain sufficient small-denomination coinage to make up workers' wages. Factory-issued zinc pieces like this one circulated as internal scrip, redeemable at company canteens or local merchants who had arrangements with the issuer — a system that put firms in de facto control of how their workers spent a portion of their pay.
