The heading reads 'Aushilfsschein der Stadt Elmshorn' in bold gothic type, below which the denomination 'Zwanzig Mark' is rendered in large blackletter script. A block of text in the centre specifies the conditions of acceptance by the Stadtkasse and local financial institutions until 31 December 1918, followed by the issue date 'Elmshorn, den 7.
