| Obverse description | Plain cream paper note with a simple letterpress-printed rectangular border composed of interlaced rope-pattern guilloche strips at top and bottom and ornamental vertical panels at the sides, with numeral 20 in each corner. The heading reads 'Aushilfsschein der Stadt Elmshorn' in bold gothic type, below which the denomination 'Zwanzig Mark' is rendered in large blackletter script. A block of text in the centre specifies the conditions of acceptance by the Stadtkasse and local financial institutions until 31 December 1918, followed by the issue date 'Elmshorn, den 7. November 1918' and the issuing authority line, with a handwritten signature in violet ink at lower left. |
