Obverse description Central field bears the Slovak national coat of arms — a shield displaying a patriarchal double-barred cross rising from a triple mountain — flanked symmetrically by two olive branches tied at the base, their sprays extending upward to either side of the shield. The denomination '20' appears to the left of the shield and 'Ks' to the right. The legend 'SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA' curves along the upper periphery within a beaded border.

Additional information

Issued in the first year of the Slovak State following the German-backed dissolution of Czechoslovakia in March 1939, this coin circulated under a clerical-fascist regime with Jozef Tiso — a Catholic priest — serving as head of state. It was one of the earliest coinage issues establishing the new republic's monetary identity, struck just months after Slovakia became a nominally independent client state of the Third Reich. Tiso was later hanged for war crimes and collaboration in 1947.
