| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse retains the design of the host Mexican 8 Reales of Charles IV, featuring the laureate and draped bust of King Carlos IIII facing right, partially interrupted by the crenated (scallop-edged) central hole punched through the coin at the time of its conversion for Dominican currency use. The circular legend reads CAROLUS·IIII·DEI·GRATIA around the periphery, with the date 1790 appearing in the lower exergue area. The milled border of the host coin remains intact around the circumference. The central void, with its characteristic lobed edge, eliminates much of the king's neck and chest, leaving the crowned head and the surrounding inscription as the primary design elements. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse displays the design of the host Mexican 8 Reales, showing the crowned royal arms of Spain flanked by the Pillars of Hercules, each bearing the motto PLUS and ULTRA on scrolling banners. The crenated central hole has been punched through the centre of the shield, removing the central quartering but leaving the crowned top of the arms, the flanking pillars, and the surrounding legend clearly visible. The circular legend reads ·HISPAN·ET·IND·REX· with the Mexico City mint mark Mo, denomination 8R, and assayer initials F·M· also present in the field. The milled border of the host coin is preserved around the outer edge. |
