| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse presents an entirely typographic design with no figural imagery, characteristic of Anabaptist coinage from Münster. The central field bears the inscription THO MVNS TER arranged in three lines within a beaded inner circle, with the date 1534 appearing above it. Surrounding this central cartouche is a concentric band of Low German legend in raised hammered lettering, reading INT. RIKE. GODES. EIN. KONINCK. VPRECHT. OVE` AL. EIN. GODT. EIN. GELOVE. EIN. DOEPE, proclaiming the Anabaptist theological tenets of one God, one faith, one baptism. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border at the rim, with text reading in both directions around the field, consistent with the revolutionary religious character of the Münster Anabaptist kingdom of 1534. |
