The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by the date 1998 divided across the lower field on either side of the shield. The denomination 1000 SHILLINGS curves along the lower legend, and the national motto FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY appears on the scroll within the coat of arms.
