Obverse description The Honduran national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a triangular escutcheon with a volcanic landscape and rising sun at centre, flanked by two quivers of arrows and two cornucopias arranged symmetrically on either side. The entire composition is surmounted by a mural crown and enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS arcs around the upper portion of the shield, while the date 1871 appears in the lower exergue. A decorative wreath and crossed elements frame the base of the design, and the entire coin is bordered by a fine beaded rim.
