| 表面の説明 | Draped bust of Empress Maria Theresia facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and adorned, set within an open wreath of combined palm and laurel branches tied at the base with a small eagle motif. The encircling legend reads M. THERESIA D. G. R. / IMP. HU. BO. REG., distributed around the portrait. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Baroque style, with fine detailing on the lace and drapery of the imperial dress. A fine toothed border frames the entire design. |

Maria Theresia's monetary reforms of the 1750s and 1760s reshaped Habsburg coinage on a practical level — the 10 Kreuzer was part of a rationalized system designed to align Austrian circulation with the Conventions-Münze standard agreed upon with Bavaria in 1753. The .500 fineness was a deliberate concession to production economics, not a debasement in the pejorative sense, but a calculated adjustment to keep small silver in circulation rather than hoarded or melted.
After Theresia's death in 1780, her portrait coins continued to be struck retroactively for trade purposes — a practice more famously applied to her Taler but which extended to lesser denominations in certain mint runs.
