附加信息

Laos gained autonomy within the French Union in 1949, and this 1952 issue belongs to the first coinage struck for the newly configured Kingdom — replacing the Indochinese piastre system that had governed the region's currency since the 1880s. The coins were struck at the Paris Mint, as was standard for French-associated territories throughout the postwar decade.

Sisavang Vong had ruled since 1904, initially under French protectorate conditions, and the appearance of his name on an independent monetary issue came only at the very end of his reign — he died in 1959.
