| Aversbeschreibung | Draped bust of a Lao Loum woman in right profile, her hair arranged in a traditional braided bun adorned with a decorative ornament, occupying the central field around the round central hole. The surrounding legend reads 'ROYAUME DU LAOS' in Latin script to the left, with the equivalent Lao script inscription 'ພະຣາຊະອານາຈັກລາວ' to the right, and the date '1952' at the bottom. A small decorative star-shaped ornament appears at the top between the two inscriptions. The engraving, by Lucien Georges Bazor, is executed in a refined relief typical of the Monnaie de Paris. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
Laos gained autonomy within the French Union in 1949, and this 1952 issue belongs to the first coinage struck for the newly configured Kingdom — replacing the Indochinese piastre system that had governed the region's currency since the 1880s. The coins were struck at the Paris Mint, as was standard for French-associated territories throughout the postwar decade.
Sisavang Vong had ruled since 1904, initially under French protectorate conditions, and the appearance of his name on an independent monetary issue came only at the very end of his reign — he died in 1959.
