The character 常 (Sang, 'Always') appears at the top, 通 (Tong, 'Circulation') to the right, 平 (Pyong, 'Constant') at the bottom, and 寶 (Bo, 'Treasure') to the left, together reading 常平通寶 (Sangpyong Tongbo), the standard legend of the Joseon dynasty cash coinage. The fields are plain and unadorned, consistent with the cast production technique. The outer rim is slightly raised and rounded. |
