| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned letter 'G', the municipal initial of Göttingen, enclosed within a plain circle. A small crescent or ornamental device appears within the letter. The date is partially visible to the left of the central device, reading portions of the year 1622 or 1623. The surrounding legend reads MO • NO • GOTTIN •, identifying this as a new coin of Göttingen. The overall style is characteristic of crude hammered municipal coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
