Schweidnitz — Świdnica in modern Poland — operated as a semi-autonomous Silesian city under Bohemian Crown authority during this period, and its local coinage rights were a hard-won civic privilege jealously guarded against encroachment by both the Habsburgs and neighboring territorial lords. The groschen issues of 1505–1511 fall within a window of significant administrative turbulence following Maximilian I's consolidation of the Bohemian inheritance, when many Silesian minting authorities were quietly suppressed or absorbed.
Kop#8702 is among the scarcer civic references in Kopicki's Silesian section.
