| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The portrait is rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a draped collar at the truncation, where the engraver's initials 'HP' appear. The circumferential legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP., separated by raised dots and running clockwise from the lower left. The entire design is framed by a continuous milled border of fine beads. |
