Right-facing draped and crowned bust of King Eric XIV occupying the central field, rendered in the crude hammered style typical of Baltic regional coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The crown is prominently detailed with arched elements. A circular Latin legend runs around the periphery, separated from the central effigy by a beaded inner border. The portrait is executed in low relief with somewhat schematic facial features characteristic of the Reval mint's output. |

Central field displays the arms of Sweden — three stacked passant lions guardant arranged vertically within a distinctively wavy-sided shield, this feature being the defining characteristic of Type 2. The shield is rendered in relief with ornate contoured edges. A Latin circumferential legend surrounds the shield, separated by a beaded inner border, with the last two digits of the regnal year incorporated into the legend. The overall composition is typical of Reval civic coinage struck under Swedish royal authority. |
