Borrel, whose signature appears in small letters below the truncation. The circular Greek legend surrounding the effigy reads ΠΡΙΓΚΗΨ ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ ΥΠΑΤΟΣ ΑΡΜΟΣΤΗΣ ΕΝ ΚΡΗΤΗ, identifying him as Prince George of Greece, High Commissioner of Crete. The legend ΚΡΗΤΙΚΗ ΠΟΛΙΤΕΙΑ (State of Crete) arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 ΔΡΑΧΜΗ appears along the lower border. A beaded border runs along the coin's inner rim.
