| Beschrijving voorzijde | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted aged 77, uncrowned, wearing a necklace and earrings, after the Susanna Blunt portrait. A commemorative privy mark composed of four pearls accompanies the effigy, symbolising the four successive royal portraits that appeared on Canadian coinage throughout her reign. MacGill is depicted wearing a pin signifying her role as provincial (Ontario) and national president of the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs. In the upper field, a silhouette of the Maple Leaf Trainer II — the first aircraft designed and manufactured under a woman's direction — is rendered in colour, alongside a reference to her wartime contribution overseeing mass production of the Hawker Hurricane. The legend CANADA ELSIE MACGILL DOLLARS and the artist's initials CW appear within the design. |
