Obverse description Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted aged 77, uncrowned, wearing a necklace and earrings, after the Susanna Blunt portrait. A commemorative privy mark composed of four pearls accompanies the effigy, symbolising the four successive royal portraits that appeared on Canadian coinage throughout her reign. The obverse field carries the peripheral legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, with the double date 1952⁘2022 referencing the full extent of her reign. The date of issue, 2023, also appears in the field.

Reverse description The reverse, designed by artist Claire Watson, presents a portrait of aviation pioneer and women's rights advocate Elsie MacGill (1905–1980) set against a coloured sky background. MacGill is depicted wearing a pin signifying her role as provincial (Ontario) and national president of the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs. In the upper field, a silhouette of the Maple Leaf Trainer II — the first aircraft designed and manufactured under a woman's direction — is rendered in colour, alongside a reference to her wartime contribution overseeing mass production of the Hawker Hurricane. The legend CANADA ELSIE MACGILL DOLLARS and the artist's initials CW appear within the design.
