| Obverse description | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted aged 77, uncrowned, wearing a necklace and earrings, after the Susanna Blunt portrait. A commemorative privy mark composed of four pearls accompanies the effigy, symbolising the four successive royal portraits that appeared on Canadian coinage throughout her reign. The obverse field carries the peripheral legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, with the double date 1952⁘2022 referencing the full extent of her reign. The date of issue, 2023, also appears in the field. |
