Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, executed after the model by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The square gold-plated field is divided diagonally, with the upper-right triangle rendered in deep black, creating a striking two-tone contrast. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed vertically along the left border, while 1 DOLLAR appears horizontally at the top and NIUE ISLAND vertically along the right border. The date 2020 is placed at the lower left, with the engraver's initials IRB incused below the portrait's truncation, and the metallic specification Ag 999 1oz appears in the lower right exergue.

Reverse description The reverse presents a full-color reproduction of Sandro Botticelli's celebrated altarpiece Lamentation over the Dead Christ (c. 1495, Museo Poldi Pezzoli, Milan), applied using polychrome printing technology on the gold-plated silver surface. The composition depicts the Virgin Mary swooning as she cradles the limp, pallid body of Christ, surrounded by grieving figures including Saint John the Evangelist, Mary Magdalene, and other mourners, all rendered with Botticelli's characteristic sinuous line and rich drapery in deep reds, blues, and blacks. The scene is enclosed within a finely detailed ornamental gilt frame in Baroque style, with acanthus-scroll and bead-and-reel motifs, occupying the full extent of the square flan. No inscriptions or legends appear on the reverse field, allowing the artwork to dominate the composition entirely.
