Obverse description Green and black intaglio-printed note with a central guilloche underprint in pale green. A portrait vignette of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the right side, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The bilingual inscriptions "BANK OF CANADA – BANQUE DU CANADA" appear in a dark band across the lower centre, with the denomination "ONE DOLLAR / UN DOLLAR" flanking a large numeral "1" in the central panel, and the place and date of issue "OTTAWA 1954" printed below alongside the two facsimile signatures.
