Additional information

Mahindra Simha ruled Kathmandu for only a few years in the early eighteenth century, one of the last kings of the Malla dynasty before Prithvi Narayan Shah's conquest of the valley in 1768 ended three centuries of Malla coinage traditions. The fractional mohar denominations of this period were struck by hand using traditional Nepalese techniques, with dies cut locally and often showing considerable variation between individual pieces — what appears as inconsistency is simply the nature of the production method.
