The denomination fractions '1' and '2' flank the shield to left and right respectively, with 'GL' (Gulden) to the lower right. A continuous Latin circular legend runs along the toothed border, reading MO ARG ORD FÆD BELG HOLL 1/2 GL, identifying this as the silver money of the Federated Belgian Orders of Holland. The overall engraving style is characteristic of late Dutch Republic milled coinage. |
