Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, as sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted diademed and draped with her characteristic mature portrait. The legend SOLOMON ISLANDS arcs along the upper border, flanked by decorative Greek key meander motifs at the corners, while the denomination HALF DOLLAR appears to either side of the effigy in the field. The date 2020 is positioned along the lower border, also flanked by Greek key ornamental bands, with the engraver's initials IRB visible beneath the portrait truncation.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a richly detailed high-relief scene spanning the full annular sector field, depicting two historically juxtaposed subjects divided by the composition: on the left, a naval gun crew in period dress operating a large-bore cannon, and on the right, a group of early aviation pioneers examining documents and plans. The upper arc bears the legends NAVAL GUN CREW and THE BIRTH OF, separated by five-pointed stars, while the lower arc continues with OF THE BRAVE? followed by a row of five stars. The border is elaborately decorated with bands of Greek key meander, repeating rectangular geometric motifs, and a beaded rim, all rendered in antiqued copper finish.
