The legend SOLOMON ISLANDS arcs along the upper border, flanked by decorative Greek key meander motifs at the corners, while the denomination HALF DOLLAR appears to either side of the effigy in the field. The upper arc bears the legends NAVAL GUN CREW and THE BIRTH OF, separated by five-pointed stars, while the lower arc continues with OF THE BRAVE? followed by a row of five stars. The border is elaborately decorated with bands of Greek key meander, repeating rectangular geometric motifs, and a beaded rim, all rendered in antiqued copper finish. |
