The upper arc bears the legends NAVAL GUN CREW and THE BIRTH OF, separated by five-pointed stars, while the lower arc continues with OF THE BRAVE? followed by a row of five stars. The border is elaborately decorated with bands of Greek key meander, repeating rectangular geometric motifs, and a beaded rim, all rendered in antiqued copper finish. |
