Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate interlaced royal cypher of Stanisław August Poniatowski — the letters S and A intertwined in an ornate script monogram — surmounted by a royal crown with arched bands and cross finial. The mint date 1766 is divided to either side of the monogram, with '17' to the left and '66' to the right. The coin's milled border frames the entire design. No peripheral legend appears on this face; the regnal initials SAR are referenced only through the monogram itself.
