| 裏面の説明 | Front-facing bust in low relief at center, stylistically analogous to the obverse effigy, rendered in the schematic Visigothic manner with draped shoulders and simplified facial features. A cross pattée is positioned in the upper field. The surrounding Latin legend + SAC·VNTO IVSTV:O references the mint city of Sagunto, with the epithet denoting justice or fairness, all enclosed within a beaded border typical of Visigothic tremisses. |

Sisebut reigned from 612 to 621 and is one of the more historically legible Visigothic kings — he authored hagiographic poetry, corresponded with Isidore of Seville, and issued an edict forcibly converting Hispania's Jewish population to Christianity, a policy Isidore himself criticized as theologically unsound. His coinage was struck across a wider network of mints than many of his predecessors, Sagunto among them. The mint there, operating under the Roman name Saguntum, had a long monetary history the Visigoths were effectively borrowing against.
CNV 273 and Pliego 253 align on attribution, which is not always the case for Visigothic provincial issues.
