| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing or slightly turned bust of a stylized ruler in the Merovingian tradition, rendered in a highly schematic, flat manner characteristic of late 7th-century Frankish coinage. The effigy displays a diademed or helmeted head with rudimentary facial features, draped shoulders suggested by linear engraving, and a sceptre or cross held before the body. The figure is set within a beaded border, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the field. The workmanship reflects the provincial, workshop-based style typical of the Quentovic mint during the later Merovingian period. |
