Reverse description Central device consists of a large crowned quartered coat of arms of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, incorporating various heraldic charges including lions and crossed keys, set within an ornate baroque shield. The date 1679 appears divided on either side of the shield. The peripheral legend in Latin capitals reads FRIDERIC· DVX SAX·I·C·ET·M·, identifying Frederick as Duke of Saxony, Jülich, Cleves, and Berg, distributed around the upper and lateral rim of the coin.
