| Descrizione del dritto | Crowned baroque oval cartouche bearing the quartered arms of Bavaria and the Palatinate, with a central escutcheon of the imperial orb, set within an ornate baroque frame. The date is divided at left and right by the shield, with the year 1657 appearing in the legend and field. The Collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece is suspended from the base of the shield, and the fractional denomination (1/3) appears within a small circle at the bottom of the design. | Descrizione del rovescio | The Virgin Mary, crowned and seated upon an upturned crescent moon, is depicted in three-quarter view holding the Christ Child on her left arm and a scepter in her right hand. The figures are surrounded by an aureole of radiating rays extending to a plain inner circle, beyond which the encircling Latin legend occupies the outer border. The composition follows the Bavarian Marian devotional tradition, reflecting the religious patronage of the Wittelsbach dynasty. The design is rendered in a refined baroque style consistent with mid-seventeenth-century Bavarian coinage. |
