| Obverse description | Bearded head of Heracles in right profile, enveloped in the Nemean lion skin headdress, the gaping jaws of the pelt framing the hero's face and the mane rendered in bold, schematic locks. The features are strongly modelled in the Sicilian tradition, with a broad forehead and pronounced brow. A club is visible over the shoulder in the lower field. The flan border is defined by a faint dotted circle, partially visible on the irregular edge. |
