Jugate laureate and draped busts of the Dioskouroi facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic style, with a six-pointed star positioned above each bust in the field. Standing figure of the city-goddess Tyche, turreted and draped, depicted en face with her head turned to the left. In her raised right hand she holds a ship's tiller (rudder), symbol of maritime dominion, while her left hand supports a cornucopiae (horn of plenty), emblematic of civic prosperity. The Greek legend ΤΡΙΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ ΤΗΣ ΙΕΡΑΣ ΚΑΙ ΑΥΤΟΝΟΜΟΥ is disposed around the field, identifying the issuing city of Tripolis as holy and autonomous, with the date letters ΘΕ ΒΛ appearing in the exergue or field. |
