| Opis awersu | A serpent emerges to the left from a partially open cista mystica, the sacred chest of Dionysus, rendered in the characteristic cistophoric tradition. The cista is depicted in three-quarter view with its lid ajar, from which the serpent issues with naturalistic detail. The entire central type is encircled by a wreath of ivy with berries, a standard feature of cistophoric coinage, forming the border of the obverse field. The design is executed in the Hellenistic style typical of late Republican-era Asian mint production. |

Between the serpent heads appears a hexastyle round temple rendered in architectural detail, its pediment surmounted by a standing figure of Athena. To the right of the composition, a winged caduceus is depicted as a subsidiary symbol. The field carries the magistrate's name ΚΑΦΙΣΟΚΛΗΣ ΕΥΑΡΧΟΥ in Greek lettering alongside Latin administrative titles referencing his role as a Roman proconsular official, reflecting the bilingual character of late Republican cistophoric coinage. |
