| Descrizione del dritto | Youthful, beardless head of Herakles facing right, depicted in three-quarter relief with strong Hellenistic modeling, wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, with the beast's jaws framing the crown of the head and its pelt draped about the neck and shoulders. The facial features are finely rendered with a straight nose, parted lips, and a naturalistic eye, reflecting the idealized portrait tradition of the Alexander coinage. The lion skin headdress is rendered in detail, with the mane radiating outward across the field. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a low stool-throne, his body nude to the waist with drapery across his lap and lower limbs. In his extended right hand he holds an eagle, and in his raised left hand a long sceptre. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field. In the left field, a monogram appears above a sphinx seated right, the latter serving as the civic symbol of the mint at Chios and providing a key attribution for this issue. |
