| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned to the left upon a stool-throne (diphros), his nude torso rendered in the round and his lower body draped; he extends his right hand forward, upon which an eagle perches with wings closed, while his left hand rests on a tall upright sceptre. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field. In the left field, a griffin seated to the left serves as a civic symbol of Assos, accompanied by a monogram serving as a mint control mark. The composition closely follows the canonical Alexandrine reverse type established under Alexander III, adapted here with local control symbols by the issuing authority at Assos. |
