Obverse description Youthful, beardless head of Heracles in right-facing profile, depicted without beard in the Hellenistic tradition, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, with the beast's jaws framing the hero's crown and the fur rendered in boldly modelled folds across the neck and shoulder. The facial features display strong classical workmanship, with a pronounced brow, almond-shaped eye, and well-defined chin characteristic of the Alexandrine coinage type. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, consistent with the hammered production of posthumous Hellenistic issues struck at Assos during the second century BC.
