Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless, wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, with the beast's gaping jaws visible atop the head and its pelt draping behind. The hair of the hero falls in tight curls at the temple, rendered in the Hellenistic style characteristic of late Alexandrine coinage. The portrait fills the field generously, with finely modelled facial features including a strong jaw and slightly parted lips. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse.
