背面描述 Standing figure of Zeus in the Hellenistic tradition, facing left, with his right hand raised in a gesture of benediction or authority, and holding a long scepter in his lowered left hand. A control mark occupies the left field, while a nandipada symbol surmounted by the Kharosthi syllable 'va' appears in the upper left field. The reverse design reflects the syncretic Greco-Bactrian artistic influences prevalent in Indo-Parthian coinage, blending Hellenistic iconography with local religious and dynastic symbolism.

附加信息

Gondophares IV Sases ruled the eastern remnant of Indo-Parthian territory during a period when the kingdom was fragmenting under sustained Kushana pressure from the north. His tetradrachms in billon reflect that decline — earlier Indo-Parthian issues were struck in far purer silver, and the progressive debasement visible across this dynasty's coinage tracks the erosion of both trade revenues and political control over the Indus valley routes.

Senior 242 is one of the better-documented attributions in a series that remains genuinely difficult to sequence, partly because multiple rulers used the dynastic name Gondophares.
