| Obverse description | Youthful, beardless head of Heracles facing right, crowned with the scalp of the Nemean lion, the beast's gaping maw framing the hero's brow and the knotted forepaws visible at the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine naturalistic detail characteristic of early Hellenistic die-cutting, the flowing locks of hair emerging beneath the lion-skin headdress. The facial features are idealized yet vigorous, alluding to the heroic ancestor claimed by the Argead dynasty. No legend appears on the obverse field. |
