Obverse description Youthful diademed and radiate head of Antiochos VI Dionysos facing right, with flowing curly hair rendered in fine Hellenistic style; the radiate crown, composed of straight rays emanating from behind the diadem, is characteristic of the solar divine imagery adopted by this ruler. The portrait exhibits idealized, almost effeminate features consistent with the king's young age at accession. The field is smooth and unlettered, with the flan edge slightly irregular as typical of hammered Seleucid silver coinage.
