| 裏面の説明 | Seated male figure, derived from the enthroned Zeus type of Alexander III tetradrachms, depicted facing left in a highly stylized Celtic rendition. The figure holds what appears to be an eagle in the outstretched right hand and a long scepter in the left, both rendered in a schematized, almost abstract fashion characteristic of Eastern Celtic coinage. The throne is reduced to a series of decorative pellets and geometric elements beneath the figure. To the right of the figure, a vertical barbarized pseudo-legend reading ΛΛCEI+VI is present in the field, representing a degenerate imitation of the Greek ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ legend. Additional Celtic decorative symbols appear in the left field. |

Celtic tribes across the Danube basin began producing imitative tetradrachms of Alexander III sometime in the late 4th century BC, initially copying Macedonian prototypes with reasonable fidelity before progressively abstracting the designs through successive die generations. What survives is effectively a visual record of transmission — each workshop copying not the original coin but the previous copy, with accumulated distortions that allow specialists to reconstruct approximate geographic and chronological sequences. The "Uncertain Eastern European" attribution reflects genuine scholarly disagreement; these pieces circulated widely enough that provenance alone rarely settles the question of origin.
