Following the expulsion of tyrants, Leontini, like many Greek city-states, established democratic governance. This period saw the city's resurgence as an independent, prosperous polis. The minting of substantial silver coinage underscores Leontini's economic vitality, political autonomy, and active role in Mediterranean trade. Artistry: The coin's artistry reflects the Early Classical, or Severe Style, a transition from Archaic rigidity to naturalism.
