| Description de l’avers | Youthful bust of Dionysos facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with softly modeled features and flowing, wavy locks falling behind the neck. The god is adorned with a taenia and an elaborate ivy wreath bearing prominently rendered ivy leaves and a cluster of grapes at the crown of the head. Long spiral tendrils of hair descend behind the ear, characteristic of the Maroneian die-cutting tradition. The portrait is struck in high relief against a plain field, with no legend on the obverse. |

Magistrate monograms appear in the inner left and inner right fields flanking the figure. The encircling Greek legend ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ, meaning 'of Dionysos the Saviour, of the Maroneitans,' runs around the reverse field, affirming the civic and religious identity of the issuing city. |
