Adramyttion — the Mysian port city Rome reorganized as part of the province of Asia following the Attalid bequest of 133 BC — issued bronze coinage through a period of considerable administrative disruption, including the chaos of the First Mithridatic War, when Mithridates VI swept through western Asia Minor in 88 BC and massacred an estimated 80,000 Roman and Italian residents across the region. The city survived and retained its mint, a detail worth noting given how many civic issues simply ceased during that conflict.
