At 0.20g, these fractional pieces represent the smallest denomination in regular Greek commercial use — one-quarter of an obol, itself already a fraction. Cilicia in this period sat under loose Achaemenid oversight, with local dynasts and cities retaining enough autonomy to strike their own silver while still paying tribute to Persia. The attribution remains contested; Kagan's corpus groups several visually similar issues under uncertain Cilician origins precisely because the region's mint output from this period has never been systematically untangled from neighboring Lycian and Phoenician production.
