| Beschrijving keerzijde | A voided long cross extending to the coin's edge divides the reverse into four quadrants, each containing a single letter of the moneyer's name, with small pellets or balls ornamenting the terminals of each arm of the cross. The cross arms terminate in trefoil or pellet finials, consistent with the esterlin type of the Meuse region. The circular legend in uncial Latin, reading P E T R DE HARSSTAL, identifies the moneyer as Peter of Herstal, separated by a cross. The overall execution reflects the local workshop tradition of the Lordship of Herstal during the second half of the 13th century. |
