Reverse description An eagle displayed in bold relief, shown flying to the right with wings fully spread, rendered in a granular or stippled technique characteristic of early South Italian coinage. The bird's head is turned slightly forward and its tail feathers are spread. The design is set within a shallow incuse field bordered by a radiating linear or rayed border, consistent with the incuse technique associated with the Pythagorean cities of Magna Graecia in the late Archaic period.
