| 正面描述 | Facing left, the bust of Persephone rendered in fine classical style, her hair bound with a wreath of grain ears befitting her chthonic and agricultural associations. She is adorned with a triple-pendant earring and a pearl necklace, depicted with careful attention to detail characteristic of Lokrian die engravers of the mid-fourth century BC. The hair falls in loose waves behind the neck, and the facial features exhibit a serene, idealized quality consistent with the finest Opuntian coinage. The field is plain, with no legend on the obverse. |

The Opuntian Lokrians occupied a strategically awkward position in fourth-century Greek politics — nominally subordinate to Thebes after Leuktra in 371 BC yet maintaining enough civic independence to produce their own silver coinage through the 350s. This stater belongs to that uneasy interval, struck while Epaminondas was reshaping central Greek power and the Lokrians were carefully managing obligations to multiple stronger neighbors.
The BCD Lokris reference places this among a well-documented but genuinely scarce series; the Copenhagen and SNG groupings confirm die-linked survival patterns suggesting limited original production runs rather than a heavily circulated civic issue.
