| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped bust of Aelia Pulcheria facing right, wearing an elaborate diadem of multiple rows of pearls and a jewelled stephane surmounted by a central ornament, with long braided locks descending behind the neck and pearl drop earrings visible. The empress is clothed in an imperial paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, adorned with a bejewelled fibula and pendilia. The effigy is rendered in the refined late antique court style characteristic of Theodosian-era coinage. The Latin legend AEL PVLCHERIA AVG encircles the bust, divided to left and right of the field. |
